Sifuna Promises Tax Cuts and Budget Overhaul in Presidential Bid

by KenyaPolls

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has committed to eliminating levies and taxes imposed by the Kenya Kwanza administration within his initial 100 days if he secures the presidency in the 2027 General Elections. Speaking at the launch of the Linda Mwananchi Movement National Headquarters in Nairobi, Sifuna stated that his government would focus on relieving financial pressures on citizens by repealing taxes on vital services and eradicating systemic fiscal waste. He suggested slashing Ksh.500 million from the national expenditure to channel those resources directly to the public.

He voiced strong disapproval of public expenditures directed toward entertainment and hospitality, questioning how massive sums could be allocated for such purposes while healthcare systems struggled, pointing to a prolonged nurses’ strike.

Furthermore, Sifuna asserted that the Linda Mwananchi Movement would strictly enforce constitutional compliance and the rule of law to curb national disorder. He stressed that any presidential contender must demonstrate absolute dedication to safeguarding the constitution prior to taking office.

He championed an administration grounded in human rights protection and social equality, questioning the current administration’s commitment to these values.

In conclusion, Sifuna announced that the movement plans to convene a National Delegates Convention on November 13, 2026, to ratify party frameworks and lay the groundwork for nationwide grassroots offices to function before the conclusion of November.
