Peoples Party of Kenya leader Ndindi Nyoro has accused President William Ruto of commercializing Kenyan assets and demanded an immediate halt to the practice.
Speaking during a public rally in Gilgil town, Nakuru County, Nyoro asserted that President Ruto directed chief executives of the NSSF, CPF, and superannuation funds, compelling state-backed pension and public entities to purchase and subsequently offload shares in the Kenya Pipeline at a loss to advantage private investors. He stated that pensioners have incurred losses totaling 27.5 billion shillings, alleging that the proceeds favor a select group of individuals concealing themselves behind corporate shareholders while positioning the President among minority stakeholders and utilizing public assets for personal gain at the expense of citizens.
Nyoro blamed President Ruto for disappointing Kenyans through substandard governance and prioritizing personal agendas over public welfare. He emphasized that citizens are exhausted by the current administration and challenged the Head of State to prepare to vacate State House following the 2027 General Election, asserting that the nation requires leadership transformation.
Addressing opposition solidarity, Nyoro cautioned opposition figures against internal friction, public disputes, and fragmentation, warning that such conflicts could jeopardize their campaign to unseat President Ruto. He stressed that preserving cohesion and presenting a united front will remain essential for achieving success in the 2027 General Election, urging leaders to concentrate on matters impacting citizens rather than internal political disputes.
Regarding retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, Nyoro urged President Ruto to grant his predecessor appropriate respect and cease attributing current governmental shortcomings to him. He argued that the President ought to assume accountability for his administration’s outcomes rather than involving the former Head of State in his governance and political difficulties.
Earlier, Nyoro underscored the party’s dedication to collaborating with aligned leaders toward political transformation, noting that the PPK serves all citizens. Nyoro maintained that fulfilling the opposition’s objectives for the nation necessitates removing President William Ruto and his government from power, which he characterized as having failed the public through poor leadership.
While officially welcoming Kajiado Woman Representative aspirant Susan Simayo into the PPK following her departure from the DCP, Nyoro stated that the political outfit embodies the concerns and aspirations of individuals desiring leadership renewal. He affirmed that the PPK welcomes leaders who share its commitment to resolving national difficulties and advancing a unified agenda.
Simayo explained that her choice to enter the PPK came after discussions with her constituents in Kajiado County. She characterized the party as welcoming and inclusive, noting that her transition was motivated by its open approach to politics and governance.
She additionally voiced assurance that the PPK values leaders dedicated to a shared objective, irrespective of their political origins.
