Governor Mutula Leads Push for Corruption-Free Makueni
Makueni County is actively working to establish itself as one of Kenya’s least corrupt counties, focusing on transparency, accountability, and performance management.
On August 19, 2025, Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. hosted a delegation from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) led by Commissioner Alfred Mshimba, alongside GIZ representatives headed by Judy Oduma. The discussions centered on strengthening corruption prevention strategies and establishing a County Corruption Prevention Committee in line with EACC 2023 guidelines.
The committee’s responsibilities will include:
Developing a framework to integrate corruption prevention into public service.
Reducing corruption prevalence.
Enhancing transparency and accountability.
Building a positive organizational culture in county operations.
Governor Mutula highlighted the value of proactive, systematic approaches to curb corruption, emphasizing prevention over relying solely on prosecution.
