Law enforcement officers have taken two individuals into custody in connection with an armed robbery where a female victim was reportedly dispossessed of Sh1 million in Chemobo village, located within Aldai Constituency, Nandi County.
Authorities from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations stated that the pair was captured during a targeted operation in Mudete, Sabatia Sub-County, as part of inquiries into the October 19, 2026, crime.
In an official release, investigators noted that the victim had earlier withdrawn the funds from a financial institution in Mbale during the afternoon hours.
The woman was traveling with an acquaintance, and the cash was designated for acquiring construction supplies.
Following the bank transaction, the two individuals traveled by public transport to Shamakhokho, subsequently engaging a motorcycle taxi toward Chemobo.
Their transit was abruptly halted close to Erusui Girls Secondary School when a white Toyota Probox intercepted their motorcycle.
According to police reports, four individuals exited the automobile, with two purportedly wielding firearms, and accosted the passengers.
The perpetrators managed to escape with the Sh1 million, which had been secured inside a shopping bag.
Additionally, the attackers took another bag holding the victim’s identification card, banking card, and a cellular device before driving off in the direction of Serem Town.
In response to the occurrence, investigators initiated a thorough inquiry to uncover the details of the robbery and track down the culprits.
Officials indicated that a nocturnal operation resulted in the apprehension of two men, aged 54 and 34, within Mudete.
The sweep was executed by local detectives in collaboration with specialized regional units.
A subsequent search of a suspect’s home reportedly uncovered numerous objects suspected of association with illicit operations.
The seized materials comprised communication devices, handcuffs, multiple mobile phones, various SIM cards, tools, and several fabricated vehicle license plates.
