Nyanza leaders call for rejection of June 25 protests

Leaders aligned with the ODM and UDA parties have condemned the planned demonstrations set for June 25, 2026, accusing opposition figures of exploiting young people to pursue political interests.

During a women empowerment programme in Asumbi, ODM National Chairperson Gladys Wanga said Kenyans should be wary of leaders who, in her view, are using the youth to achieve their political ambitions.

The leaders appealed to Kenyans and their supporters to avoid joining the planned protests, saying national concerns can be addressed through better means than street demonstrations.

Those in attendance included Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi, Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo and Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi.

They emphasized that dialogue and peaceful engagement remain the most effective ways to address the country’s political and social challenges.
