Police officers from Kapsabet Police Station stopped a vehicle with two individuals inside and discovered a large quantity of cannabis sativa.
The vehicle, registered as KDP 296G, functioned as a mobile storage unit with concealed bags containing 283.5 kilograms of cannabis worth roughly Ksh14,175,000 on the black market.
Gabriel Lubasi and his companion Wycliffe Geda were immediately detained and transported to Kapenguria Police Station to face legal consequences.
In a separate operation, Anti-Narcotics Unit and Transnational Organised Crime Unit officers conducted a search on the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway, stopping a public transport vehicle in Kamirithu, Limuru.
Inside the vehicle, officers discovered two fully loaded black backpacks containing five bales of cannabis sativa wrapped in yellow cello tape.
The contraband belonged to passenger Lydia Arebo Emongoluk. Further inspection revealed additional illegal substances: a black backpack and a tote bag containing four and two more bales of the banned substance, associated with fellow passenger Petronilla Kwamboka.
Both individuals remain in custody, undergoing processing as they await trial while authorities intensify efforts to combat drug trafficking.
These raids demonstrate the National Police Service’s dedication to eliminating narcotics trafficking throughout Kenya,” stated the DCI.
