Kenyan Man Faces Extradition Over UK Murder

A Kenyan national is now subject to extradition proceedings after the Director of Public Prosecutions secured essential court orders, following the United Kingdom’s request concerning the 2025 death of his girlfriend in London.

The DPP notified the Milimani Law Courts that the UK had lodged the extradition request under the existing legal cooperation agreements between the two countries.

In a statement released on Friday, June 26, Deputy Registrar Bosibori Nyangema authorised two arrest warrants issued by the Westminster Court, thereby allowing the extradition process to proceed under Kenyan law.

“Bosibori Nyangema approved the DPP’s application to endorse the two Westminster Court arrest warrants, enabling the initiation of the extradition process in line with Kenyan law and international cooperation frameworks.”

UK authorities are pursuing the suspect, who faces charges of murder, manslaughter, perverting the course of justice, and fraud by false representation.

The case centers on Kenyan woman banker Marianne Kilonzi, who was found dead in her South London apartment in January 2025.

Police discovered her body surrounded by blood and a severe head injury, and investigations remain ongoing, with the suspect still unidentified at the time.

The suspect allegedly fled the UK shortly after the incident, prompting the Westminster Court to issue an arrest warrant.

Passport records show that he travelled through France, Uganda, and Kenya before being apprehended at the Namanga border on June 10 while reportedly trying to enter Tanzania.

Police seized the individual with two passports and a travel visa that linked him to the deceased as her boyfriend.

The arrest followed seven days of detention at the Anti‑Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) as investigations continued.

He contested his ongoing detention, claiming no formal extradition request had been filed, but the court upheld his detention, citing flight‑risk concerns.

During Friday’s hearing, the court also barred his release on bail, keeping him remanded.

The case is scheduled to be heard on Monday, June 29, when the court is expected to issue further orders.
