Security Enhanced in Troubled Tana River Areas
The national government has significantly enhanced security in the troubled parts of Tana River County following a surge in inter-communal clashes. The County Commissioner stated that the enhanced security operation aims to separate the warring communities, recover illegal firearms, and create a safe corridor for displaced families to return to their homes. A strict dusk-to-dawn curfew remains in effect in the most volatile areas to restrict the movement of armed raiders who often strike under the cover of darkness.
Local peace committees, supported by the government, are actively engaging community elders to de-escalate tensions and promote dialogue.
