Linda Mwananchi Movement Party leader Edwin Sifuna brought his presidential bid to Kwale County, urging opposition factions to rally behind a single standard-bearer to unseat President William Ruto in the upcoming 2027 General Election. Shortly after the movement transitioned into a formal political party and inaugurated its Nairobi headquarters, Sifuna spearheaded a series of rallies through Samburu, Kinango, Kwale, and Ukunda, where the necessity of a united front took center stage. Sifuna characterized the current administration as oppressive and charged that it routinely violates both the Constitution and the rule of law. He asserted that President Ruto has squandered public trust and no longer commands the backing he held upon assuming power. When you look at the country right now, there is nowhere William Ruto has votes. Kenyans have lost faith in him, and they are now ready to send him home, he stated. The leaders cautioned that internal opposition fractures and a failure to consolidate behind one contender would inadvertently hand the ruling administration an upper hand in the race. Embakasi East MP Babu Owino urged prominent opposition figures, such as former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Fred Matiangi, to shelve personal aspirations and reach a consensus on a singular candidate. Look for Gachagua, Kalonzo, Matiangi and all the other leaders. Agree on one candidate and put all our votes in one basket because united we stand, divided we fall, remarked Babu. Trans Nzoia county official George Nambeya voiced strong optimism regarding an opposition triumph, asserting that the coalition will implement robust verification measures to track its electoral strength independently before the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission officially releases the results. Before IEBC announces the winner, we will already know how many votes our presidential candidate has. This time round, we are not going to the Supreme Court, he declared.
