Nick Markham and Kate Ngotho led the home contingent as they secured overall victories at the latest 2026 NCBA Golf Series qualifier, staged Saturday at Karen Country Club. Golfers battled for top honours and qualification places for the Series Grand Finale later this year.
Markham won the Overall Men’s title with a strong 75 gross score in a field that included several of the country’s leading club golfers.
After his win, he said he was delighted to book his place in the season-ending finale, adding that although his putting was not quite at the level he wanted, the qualification confirmed his game is moving in the right direction and made him eager for the next stage.
Among the ladies, Kate Ngotho finished as the Overall Lady Winner with 89 gross on countback, marking an important milestone after a difficult previous season.
She said topping the field was a source of great satisfaction, noting that last year had been challenging and that qualifying for the finale gave her a chance to face players from other clubs and prove herself as the leading lady golfer.
Paul Kaguamba placed second in the men’s event with 77 gross on countback, while Margareta Gram took the Ladies’ Runner-Up prize with 89 gross on countback.
In Division One, Kiunjuri Mathu won with 84 gross, ahead of Liban Roba on 77 gross countback and Lesaan Shani on 78 gross countback.
Division Two was won by Edwin Nyairo in the men’s category with 43 points, while Jacintah Wambugu claimed the ladies’ title with 38 points.
In Division Three, junior golfer Mutei Mwendwa won the men’s category with 38 points, and Susan Kihato led the ladies with 41 points.
After the tournament, NCBA Group Managing Director John Gachora said the continued growth of the Series reflects golf’s increasing popularity across the country and the need to create opportunities for golfers of all levels to compete.
He said the NCBA Golf Series gives players a platform to test themselves, connect with others, and enjoy the sport at some of Kenya’s finest courses, reinforcing NCBA’s support for golf development nationwide.
The Karen qualifier was the sixteenth event on the 2026 NCBA Golf Series calendar and has drawn thousands of golfers across Kenya during the season.
Winners in the various categories earned places at the Grand Finale scheduled for November at Karen Country Club, highlighting NCBA’s investment in junior, amateur, professional, and club golf.
