Law enforcement officials have confiscated brewing apparatus and apprehended individuals during separate operations against illegal alcohol in Machakos, Vihiga and Kisumu regions.
The National Police Service stated that these synchronized efforts form part of a continuing initiative aimed at addressing the manufacturing, distribution and use of unauthorized alcoholic beverages nationwide.
Within Machakos county, personnel from Tala Police Station executed a mission along the Ngomeni River, identified as a potential center for unlawful alcohol manufacturing.
Throughout the raid, authorities secured 600 liters of molasses, metal containers and additional apparatus suspected to be utilized in producing illegal alcohol. Law enforcement also confiscated 20 liters of chang’aa.
The service indicated that the location had been detected through monitoring as a focal point for suspected illicit brewing operations.
The retrieval of these materials constituted endeavors to undermine production channels associated with the illegal alcohol market.
During distinct operations in Vihiga and Kisumu counties, authorities detained four individuals discovered with 65 liters of chang’aa. The detainees were apprehended and will face judicial proceedings.

The National Police Service explained that the operations target the breakdown of supply routes and interference with systems engaged in creating and distributing non-standard alcoholic products.
It cautioned that beyond legal transgressions, illicit alcohol presents ongoing threats to community wellbeing and security, resulting in fatalities, economic hardship and alcohol-associated criminality that compromises safety in impacted communities.
