Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Embakasi successfully retrieved a stolen firearm and bullets during a rapid intelligence-based operation that resulted in the apprehension of a suspect in Nairobi’s Central Business District.

According to the DCI, the operation was directed by the SCCIO Embakasi following a report from a licensed firearm owner about the theft of a pistol.

Working on intelligence tips supported by forensic analysis, investigators tracked down the main suspect, a 42-year-old individual named John Bosco Munyao.

“The operation concluded with the apprehension of the primary suspect within Nairobi’s Central Business District,” the DCI reported.

Following his detention, the suspect reportedly directed investigators to his home in Kangemi, where a search was conducted.

Officials recovered a stolen Glock pistol hidden inside a suitcase among clothing. Additionally, officers confiscated seventeen bullets and two magazines that likely belong to the same firearm.

The recovered items were secured as evidence, pending additional forensic testing and use in continuing investigations.

The DCI confirmed that the suspect is currently in lawful detention and is anticipated to be brought before court as detectives complete their investigation into the circumstances of the theft and possible involvement of other individuals.

Authorities commended the collaborative effort between intelligence teams and field officers, noting that the swift retrieval of the weapon helped prevent its potential use in criminal activities within the city.

Investigations are continuing as law enforcement attempts to determine if the suspect is connected to other firearm-related incidents reported in Nairobi and surrounding areas.
