The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company has identified a fraudulent notice circulating to job seekers regarding 295 positions at the organization, demanding payment for interview opportunities.

Through an announcement on Friday, May 29, the organization dismissed claims that applicants should transfer Ksh 100 through mobile platforms for ‘medical document processing’ prior to interview scheduling.

The company clarified that it imposes no charges for application submissions, document processing, or interview arrangements.

‘We are aware of counterfeit interview notifications instructing candidates to remit Ksh 100 via mobile money to 01***967 for ‘medical document processing’ before proceeding to interviews,’ the statement read.

‘Nairobi City Water & Sewerage Company will NEVER request payment for application submissions, document handling, or interview scheduling,’ the organization emphasized.

The organization warned candidates about unknown persons falsely representing the company.

It additionally called upon the public encountering such communications to report them promptly and validate recruitment details through official channels.

The announcement follows several weeks after the organization revealed multiple job openings, inviting Kenyan nationals to submit applications.

The available positions spanned 31 categories, including drivers, engineers, artisans, and legal officers.

The most substantial category involved Artisans in Water and Sewer work, with 80 positions, closely followed by Driver roles with 70 openings, together representing over half of all advertised opportunities.

Additional positions included 27 slots for Ungraded Artisans in Water and Sewer, 25 roles for laborers across different regions, and 18 opportunities for Data Verification Assistants.

The application period concluded on May 13, with interviews anticipated in the near future. This situation has enabled scammers to exploit vulnerable job seekers to extract funds.
