Chesumei MP Paul Biego Bolo is facing substantial financial losses following the destruction of his truck during fuel price protests in Naivasha. Biego confirmed on social media that he owned the truck that had been widely circulated in media reports after being burned.

“Due to the lawlessness observed during today’s unnecessary demonstrations, my truck valued at over KSh 20 million, an Actros 3340 model, was completely destroyed in Naivasha,” Paul Biego stated.

The legislator suggested that his truck may have been specifically targeted because it originated from the North Rift region, expressing concerns about what he described as potential selective targeting of vehicles and trucks from that area.

The first-term MP mentioned that the truck represented years of personal sacrifice, sleepless nights, and honest hard work, making the loss particularly devastating.

“The profound distress of seeing years of your life’s work disappear in a single moment of lawlessness is unimaginable,” he said.

Biego further expressed anguish not only about his personal loss but also about the numerous other incidents reported nationwide that could leave many Kenyans without their livelihoods.

“My heart is heavy and the pain runs deep. Witnessing the honest work of citizens destroyed in an instant is profoundly saddening,” he added.

In other developments in Naivasha, Powerstar Supermarket was reportedly looted and parts of it set on fire.

In Githurai, a vehicle was completely burned after perpetrators allegedly found campaign materials associated with the UDA party inside the car.

The government has condemned these incidents and promised to ensure accountability for those responsible.

“While acknowledging that fuel prices have increased substantially due to the ongoing global political crisis, looting, violence, blocking roads, and damaging public and private property cannot in any way reduce oil prices,” Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen said.
