The Zambezi community in Kikuyu is grappling with a tragic incident following accusations that a local mother poisoned her two children.
The woman, currently hospitalized, reportedly acted due to extreme personal hardships. Her children, aged 6 and 7, lost their lives in the heartbreaking event.
Residents observed that she had seemed highly anxious and overwhelmed in the days prior, though no one expected such a devastating outcome.
On Monday evening, authorities secured the crime scene, gathering forensic evidence to advance their investigation. The village remains in shock as police continue to determine the exact circumstances leading to the fatalities.
Local officials are encouraging individuals dealing with mental health issues or financial difficulties to seek assistance rather than endure in isolation. Mr. Joseph Mwaura, a local religious leader, conveyed sorrow over the loss of young lives and emphasized present societal challenges:
“We understand that many are experiencing extraordinarily tough periods. We advise parents to communicate their struggles to help prevent such tragedies. These children were blameless, and their deaths represent a significant loss for our entire community.”
