A family in Kware, Kajiado North, was left astonished after realizing they had welcomed a man who was allegedly posing as a schoolgirl into their home.
According to reports, the individual approached a woman who operates a retail business in Kware on May 18, 2026, at approximately 9 p.m., seeking assistance.
Dressed in a female school uniform, the suspect claimed he had been dismissed from school due to unpaid fees and stated he was searching for his stepmother, known as “Mama Glory.”
The individual additionally asserted that he resided with his aunt following the death of both parents, while his siblings were living with their grandmother in Kiminini, Trans Nzoia County.
“He came to my shop inquiring about Mama Glory. He mentioned traveling by bus from school to Nairobi, where he encountered a kind individual who covered his transportation costs to Kware,” the woman stated.
Showing empathy for his circumstances, she provided him with food and permitted him to stay overnight at her residence along with her daughter and granddaughter.
Reports indicate that while the suspect was initially planned to sleep on the couch, he later moved to the woman’s daughter’s bed, expressing fear as his reason.
“I woke up for prayer, went to the living room, and found my daughter awake. I observed the suspect was not on the couch and inquired with her. My daughter explained that the suspect had joined them in bed, claiming to be scared. I had no issue with this as I thought he was a girl, so I returned to sleep,” the woman explained.
The daughter reported that the suspect allegedly made an attempt to touch her but instead reached for her knees, causing her to question his intentions.
The next day, the daughter reportedly brought the suspect to the shop and questioned him about his background. She grew suspicious when he allegedly provided inconsistent statements and warned she would turn him over to the community if he didn’t tell the truth.
The daughter also challenged the suspect’s gender, noting he seemed to be a man in women’s clothing. She allegedly compelled him to raise his dress, revealing his male identity.
The incident was reported to the Kware area chief, where the suspect allegedly confessed to traveling through multiple counties, including Narok and Kericho, depending on strangers’ generosity. He reportedly stated this had become his method of survival following his parents’ death and his grandmother’s move to Kitale.
The suspect was subsequently transported to Rongai Police Station and placed in custody.
As reported by the local sub-county police commander, Kiprono Benjamin, the suspect is currently having his age determined but is thought to be approximately 19 years old. He is anticipated to face charges related to indecent assault of a minor.
“We attempted to bring him before the court, but due to uncertainty about his age, an age assessment was necessary to confirm he is not a minor. Proper measures will be implemented once his age is confirmed,” Kiprono stated.
Multiple community members who commented on the incident expressed their astonishment at what had transpired.
The individual is also suspected to be the same person arrested in September of the previous year in Kinoo, Kiambu County, while allegedly impersonating “Millicent Kemunto” in an effort to obtain employment as a domestic worker.
