Lari Women Praise MP Candidate Josephine Miano for Assisting Impoverished Students

Women from Lari constituency in Kiambu county have praised a former banker for her ongoing assistance to the community. They expressed gratitude for the distribution of school uniforms to underprivileged students across all primary schools, now referred to as comprehensive schools.

Led by Lillian Nyambura, a parent from Kibagare comprehensive school, who mentioned that when their children began receiving the uniforms, they initially believed a non-governmental organization was responsible.

Nyambura, who resides in Kibagare village in Lari Kirenga ward, disclosed that they were surprised by Josephine Miano’s initiative to support them. She noted that Miano has demonstrated what it means to show love and care for the community.

Honestly, women have been deeply moved by Miano’s concern for our children’s education. They speak about her every day,” Nyambura said.

Nyambura added that learners who received the uniforms have never wanted to miss class. The students who benefited are always excited when Miano visits the school to check on them again. They have never been absent,” she said.

Another parent, Beatrice Njoki from Kambaa primary school, stated that students are motivated to work harder when provided with supplies such as pencils, pens, erasers, and notebooks.

Njoki also mentioned that Miano has touched the hearts of parents because many of their children were attending school with worn-out uniforms, and sometimes without any.

Many of us depend on casual work which is not always available. We have to manage with the limited income we earn and prioritize essential needs,” she said.

We pay school fees in installments, making uniforms a challenge, and our children end up wearing the same uniform for years until it becomes worn out,” Njoki revealed.

Miano, who has been distributing uniforms to students from disadvantaged families for many years, has announced her candidacy for the Lari MP seat.

The former banker explains that she was motivated to support the community by the poverty that has held it back, causing many families to be unable to provide their children with quality education.

Miano revealed that she has traveled throughout the constituency multiple times and recognized an opportunity to change people’s perspective on education as part of the battle against poverty.

If we encourage our community to value education, we can instill in our children the positive attitude that education is the path to excellence,” she said.

A resident from Kibathithi in Kamburu ward, Jason Mburu, urged locals to consider supporting Miano in her pursuit of becoming an MP.

Mburu encouraged voters to consider electing a person rather than a party during the upcoming general elections.

If Miano is fortunate enough to receive a nomination from a party popular in the Mt Kenya region, that party will benefit, but even if she’s not with a major party, we will still vote for her,” he said.

We have been impressed by her connection to locals, her concern for our children, and her approach to issues. She is also very accessible,” Mburu added.
