Kalonzo Musyoka, leader of the Wiper Patriotic Front, has embarked on a two-day tour of Homa Bay County.
The politician commenced his itinerary by participating in a church service and fundraising event at Nyakongo SDA Church in Gem West Ward, Rangwe Constituency.
During his visit, Kalonzo is scheduled to explore various market centers situated along the Rodi Kopany–Rangwe–Asumbi–Suneka route.
A longstanding political partner of the late former ODM leader Raila Odinga, Kalonzo backed Raila in his three presidential campaigns.
According to Rangwe MP aspirant Michael Ogallo, Kalonzo’s recognition in the area stems from his historical connection with Raila.
“Kalonzo maintains positive relations with the Luo community. He should be allowed to travel freely through Luo territory,” Ogallo stated.
Accompanied by Embakasi South MP David Mawathe and several party MCAs, the Wiper leader accepted the church invitation extended by Pastor George Odhiambo of Missioners of Hope based in Utawala, Nairobi.
Homa Bay constitutes one of the four counties that make up Luo Nyanza.
Notably, some regional representatives have previously secured their positions under the ODM party’s banner.
Ogallo characterized Kalonzo as a composed political figure who avoids controversy.
“Wiper leader should not be concerned about the absence of local leaders accompanying him,” Ogallo added.
