A coordinated security operation in the Digdiga region resulted in the dismantling of a suspected Al-Shabaab base at Qanjara Durow after intense fighting with militants. Security sources revealed that officers strategically positioned themselves near Gel Qad Junction before moving toward Qanjara Durow, where they confronted suspected Al-Shabaab fighters. A heavy firefight broke out as security forces engaged the extremists in an operation to remove them from the area. The officers defeated the militants and secured the location before demolishing the suspected terrorist facility.
Following the operation, security teams searched the compound and recovered various items believed to be used in militant activities. Among the seized materials were communication devices, improvised explosive device components, uniforms, ammunition, food provisions, and other logistical supplies.
Authorities confirmed the recovered items have been secured for forensic analysis as investigations proceed. The National Police Service (NPS) stated that the operation is part of continuous efforts to counter terrorism and improve security in vulnerable regions. ‘The National Police Service remains dedicated to safeguarding communities and maintaining operations focused on reducing criminal and extremist activities,’ the agency announced in a statement.
