Law enforcement authorities in Kwale are examining the death of an elderly individual discovered deceased at his residence in Samburu Sub-County. According to law enforcement, the case was reported by the victim’s son, who informed officials that his father, 87-year-old Mwavadu Ndawa, was discovered deceased on Thursday, April 16. Coast Regional Police Commander Ali Nuno stated that the granddaughter found the body lying on a bed surrounded by blood. Responding officers determined that the victim suffered stab injuries to the back of the neck and left ear, apparently inflicted by unidentified individuals using a sharp instrument. The fatal injuries caused his death. Crime scene investigators processed the location before transporting the body to Kinango Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it remains preserved awaiting an autopsy. The situation has become complicated following a separate identification at Kwale County Hospital mortuary, which suggested the remains belong to Hassan Bakari Ngare, a 40-year-old resident of Maweni Village in Likoni Sub-County. His wife and family members made the identification, and an autopsy has already been performed. The contradictory identifications have raised concerns, prompting authorities to determine the actual identity of the deceased and the circumstances of the homicide. No suspects have been taken into custody, and the investigation continues. In another case, authorities in Kisumu have apprehended a murder suspect who had been evading capture after a woman’s death, which officials described as potentially stemming from a romantic triangle conflict. The individual turned himself in at Kombewa Police Station on Thursday afternoon. Law enforcement officials stated that the suspect is sought in connection with the murder of Elizabeth Adhiambo Yogo, a 48-year-old woman who was killed at Border Village in the Manyatta B area of Kisumu East Sub-County. Investigations revealed that the suspect had inherited the victim in 2018 after her husband’s death, according to local traditional customs. According to authorities, the relationship deteriorated, resulting in a deadly confrontation allegedly connected to a romantic entanglement. Police reported that the incident took place at night at the woman’s rented residence, where she was fatally stabbed. The perpetrator then escaped and remained concealed until surrendering. After surrendering, the suspect was placed in detention and will likely face court proceedings once the investigation concludes. Authorities have not released additional information, noting that the case continues to be investigated. Concurrently, three individuals were discovered deceased in separate apparent drowning incidents. Law enforcement officials noted that drowning incidents have increased, linking this trend to the heavy rains affecting the nation. The occurrences were reported in Kinangop, Nyandarua County; Kasala, Kitui County; and Brigadier, Bungoma County. In Nyandarua, authorities reported that a three-year-old boy, who had been missing, was found floating in River Tulasha. In Kitui, a 16-year-old boy drowned in a man-made reservoir. In Bungoma, a 22-year-old man who had been missing for several days was discovered deceased in River Nzoia. The remains were transported to mortuaries awaiting additional procedures, as announced by police on Friday. Authorities also reported that over 120 individuals have lost their lives in various flood-related incidents nationwide during the past three months. The flooding has displaced numerous families with forecasts indicating continued rainfall during the April-June season. The government stated that measures are being implemented to support those affected by the displacement.
