The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has uncovered a substantial amount of Ksh 65.3 million in cash during a search conducted at the Syokimau home of Patrick Analo Akivaga, who serves as Chief Officer for Urban Development and Planning at Nairobi City County Government.
The discovered funds consisted of Ksh 51.3 million in Kenyan shillings and USD 113,000 (equivalent to approximately Ksh 14 million), found at the residence and in the trunk of his car.
According to EACC officials, they additionally confiscated title deeds, vehicle registration documents, laptops, mobile phones, tablets, land and vehicle sale agreements, county approval plans, and other important paperwork.
The Commission is probing Akivaga for potential conflicts of interest, misuse of authority, corruption allegations, and owning assets that cannot be explained by his legitimate earnings.
The EACC characterized the operation as successful, indicating that the seized items will support current inquiries, potentially resulting in legal proceedings and the retrieval of wealth that cannot be accounted for.
