by KenyaPolls

Law enforcement officers operating a security checkpoint on the Thika-Garissa Highway at Kanyonyoo have apprehended a suspected drug trafficker and seized cannabis from his possession.

The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Stephen Oronje, was traveling in a Nissan matatu when police discovered a black backpack containing approximately three kilograms of cannabis sativa. The substance was carefully wrapped in green polythene material and sealed with adhesive tape, apparently to avoid detection.

In addition to the narcotic substance, officers confiscated eight packets of rolling papers, each containing one hundred sheets, along with a digital weighing scale, indicating plans for repackaging and distribution.

Initial questioning of the suspect indicated that he had acquired the cannabis from Bungoma County and was transporting it to Kitui Town for sale.

The suspect was taken into custody and transported to Kanyonyoo Police Station. All confiscated items were secured as evidence, pending the suspect’s court appearance.
