Alliance High School has temporarily dismissed its students following an incident involving a portion of mattresses in one of its older dormitory buildings.
School Principal David Chomba informed parents on Thursday, June 4, 2026, that no students were injured in the incident and that regular academic activities had proceeded without interruption.
The institution has called upon parents and guardians to attend a meeting where they will be briefed on the situation and strategies for safeguarding student welfare and security in the future.
The Principal announced that students will be permitted to return to their homes to spend the weekend with their families following the parent meeting.
Chomba explained that this step is designed to allow students to reunite with their families while the school conducts additional internal assessments and preparations to maintain normal conditions and create a favorable learning atmosphere.
He reiterated that all students remain secure and emphasized that the temporary dismissal is a precautionary measure to sustain trust within the school community.
Alliance High School is among a expanding number of educational institutions that have implemented comparable measures recently.
Pupils from Nakuru Girls High School and Njoro Girls High School have likewise been sent home under circumstances that remain unclear, with these occurrences representing a wider pattern of disturbance in secondary institutions nationwide.
These developments transpire just under two weeks following the catastrophic fire at Utumishi Girls Academy in Gilgil, Nakuru County, which resulted in the deaths of 16 students on May 28, 2026.
Authorities reported that 74 students were hospitalized following the inferno, and nine female students suspected of initiating the fire were instructed by a Naivasha court to be confined at the Nakuru Children’s Remand Home for 21 days as the inquiry proceeds.
