Authorities in Narok County have arrested a woman accused of supplying cannabis and cannabis-laced cookies to minors, in what officials say is a deliberate plot to lure children into drug abuse.

The arrest took place on the night of August 11, 2025, following a targeted enforcement operation by the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA). Acting on intelligence reports, officers raided a suspected drug den in the Majengo area of Narok town, where the suspect was found with several rolls of cannabis and drug-infused cookies allegedly prepared for distribution to minors.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect’s husband is believed to be the mastermind of a narcotics network targeting children in the area. Officials warn that the traffickers are increasingly using disguised products to attract young users.

NACADA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Anthony Omerikwa strongly condemned the incident, vowing to dismantle the entire network behind the illegal trade.

We will not rest until every individual involved in supplying narcotics to our children faces the law. This arrest marks the beginning of a larger operation, and we are pursuing all accomplices linked to this ring, he said.

The seizure of cannabis-laced cookies highlights a worrying trend in which traffickers use flavored edibles and disguised narcotics to attract and exploit minors. NACADA warned that such products pose severe health risks, including addiction and long-term psychological harm.

The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.

NACADA is urging members of the public to remain alert and report any suspicious drug-related activities through its toll-free hotline.
