Nairobi, Kenya – Kenyan detectives have successfully dismantled a transnational drug trafficking network operating through Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), arresting four suspects linked to both local and international narcotics distribution. The arrests come after intelligence-led operations uncovered sophisticated smuggling techniques, raising concerns over airport security and the methods used to bypass law enforcement.

During the operation, investigators seized 750 grams of cocaine, mobile phones, and various packaging materials used in the smuggling process. Authorities also discovered connections to a British national recently arrested in London, suggesting the ring operated across multiple international routes. The investigation, led by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), is ongoing as forensic evidence is analyzed to map the full extent of the network.

The four suspects were arraigned at JKIA Law Courts before Magistrate Njeri Thuku on Tuesday, October 7, and will remain in custody until October 29, pending further investigations. Officials emphasized that such operations highlight the need for continued vigilance at key points of entry, particularly major airports, as authorities work to curb the influence of organized crime in Kenya.
