The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has apprehended four individuals, comprising two foreign nationals, on suspicion of drug trafficking in Nairobi.

The detainees consist of a 25-year-old Serbian citizen, a 25-year-old Tanzanian national, and two Kenyans aged 26 and 28.

According to a statement issued on June 9, the operation, guided by intelligence, took place at Denluck Apartment in Nairobi, a residence frequently occupied by university students.

“Officers from the Anti-Narcotics Unit at DCI Headquarters apprehended four suspects, including two foreigners, following an intelligence-driven operation targeting drug trafficking in Nairobi,” the announcement stated.

The DCI confirmed that the operation resulted in the confiscation of hidden packages believed to contain cannabis.

“During the operation, officers recovered substantial amounts of suspected cannabis sativa in the form of dried green plant material hidden in a blue basin and a black plastic bag,” the DCI reported.

Detectives also confiscated items believed to have been utilized in drug preparation and distribution.

“Additionally, authorities seized various items suspected of being used in processing, packaging, and distributing narcotics, including a weighing scale, scissors, three lighters, Rizla rolling papers, a crusher, rolling papers, and multiple small packaging envelopes,” the DCI noted.

The suspects were taken to Muthaiga Police Station, where they remain in custody pending investigation completion and court proceedings.

All confiscated items have been secured and transported to proper storage for documentation and forensic examination.

This arrest represents one of many drug trafficking cases involving both local and foreign individuals in Nairobi.

The DCI has called on the public to provide any information that might support ongoing efforts against drug trafficking and associated criminal activities.
