A high-ranking National Intelligence Service (NIS) official was discovered deceased at his government housing in Nyamira town.

Police reports indicate that the 56-year-old officer, identified as David Kipkoech Kosgey, was found unresponsive in his home under questionable conditions.

Initial assessments suggest that indications of a physical altercation may have preceded the fatality.

Authorities noted that Kosgey’s body displayed bloodstains, possibly originating from vomiting blood.

However, investigators noted certain injuries on the body.

The victim had been scheduled to travel to Nairobi for work purposes, but when subordinates failed to make contact with him, they entered his residence forcibly.

Nyamira County commissioner Benson Leparimorijo verified the occurrence and stated that the deceased served as the County Intelligence Coordination head.

According to Leparimorijo, Kosgey’s remains were located approximately at noon on Friday, June 5, following growing concern about his absence.

The County Commissioner further confirmed that the dwelling was secured from within, necessitating forced entry by breaking down the door.

The remains were transported to Nyamira Level 5 mortuary, pending an autopsy to establish the precise cause of death.

Detectives have designated the property as a crime scene while the inquiry into his demise continues. As of this report’s release, no arrests have been made, and law enforcement has not issued official statements regarding the circumstances.
