A police firearm belonging to an officer linked to a former MP that vanished in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) has been recovered from a supermarket along Moi Avenue, a week after it disappeared.

According to a police report filed at Central Police Station, the pistol was retrieved from a popular supermarket located at Development House following intelligence-driven investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

The weapon had been reported missing by the officer who stated he lost it while visiting a barber shop and spa along Mukhtar Daddah Street within the CBD.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the officer visited the spa at around 4pm, where he requested a complimentary massage.

He reportedly took out his Ceska pistol and placed it under a cushion pillow before the massage session began.

The officer later felt dizzy and decided to rest at the spa, but when he woke up at around 11pm, he discovered the firearm was gone.

He mentioned that he tried searching for the weapon but could not locate it before formally reporting the incident on May 25.

Investigators confirmed that the pistol was found hidden inside a carrier bag, which had been stuffed into two additional bags and mixed with fruits at the supermarket’s luggage storage area.

Initial investigations determined that the firearm remained inside its holster with the magazine intact.

Detectives noted, ‘The firearm and its magazine were intact in its holster, and upon examination, the magazine was found loaded with 13 rounds of 9mm ammunition, which is 2 rounds less than what was earlier reported.’

CCTV footage examined by detectives showed that on May 28, 2026, at approximately 1:37pm, an unidentified person was seen at the luggage storage section of the supermarket before departing.

Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) officers processed the location and secured the firearm as evidence, with the gun now in safe custody while awaiting further investigations.

Police have initiated efforts to identify and trace the person captured on CCTV footage, as the case continues to be investigated by DCI officers from Central Police Station.
