The National Employment Authority has issued a public alert regarding a private recruitment firm operating under the name M-Ajira, stating that the organization lacks proper registration to recruit or place Kenyan workers in overseas employment opportunities.

In an official notice signed by Director General Mrs. Edith Okoki, the authority advised job applicants and the general public to avoid interacting with the agency, which has failed to meet the legal requirements governing labor recruitment and placement services.

According to the announcement, M-Ajira is not registered with the National Employment Authority (NEA) as mandated by the Labour Institutions Act of 2007.

The warning emerges amid escalating concerns about fraudulent recruitment schemes targeting vulnerable jobseekers seeking international employment prospects.

Numerous Kenyans are believed to have already lost substantial amounts of money through payments made to dubious agencies promising high-paying overseas positions, only for these opportunities to never materialize.

The recent warning by the authority may prompt further inquiries about whether regulatory measures were implemented too late for some victims who may have already fallen prey to deception.

NEA has urged job applicants and potential migrant workers to confirm the registration status of recruitment agencies before proceeding with any engagements.

The authority indicated that the directory of licensed agencies is accessible through its official website.

The public was also requested to report any suspected recruitment irregularities to the Director General of the National Employment Authority via email at info@nea.go.ke or by telephone at +254 (020) 8610000.

Additionally, the authority recommended that Kenyan citizens exercise prudence and verify the legitimacy of agencies before making financial commitments or signing recruitment contracts.
