Over 200 students convened in Boochi-Borabu Ward yesterday seeking guidance on their post-secondary education paths following the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Held in a tranquil rural setting, the career guidance session transformed from a formal gathering into a pivotal moment for the attendees.
With notebooks ready, students absorbed detailed explanations of the complex Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) system, receiving practical recommendations for selecting courses that harmonized with their interests and abilities.
The event marked the first instance for many students when career aspirations seemed tangible and achievable.
Dr. George Ngwacho Areba of Kisii University, serving as the distinguished guest, encouraged the youth to tackle their future with self-discipline and assurance.
“Your current decisions should embody not merely your academic results but also your aspirations,” he emphasized.
ENT specialist Dr. Geoffrey Otomu and Professor Henry Onderi of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) orchestrated the forum.
Their collaborative initiative attracted a wide range of professionals and community leaders.
Most notable was the transparency exhibited by the professionals who recounted their personal journeys, including challenges, unexpected paths, and ultimate achievements.
Numerous students characterized the forum as enlightening, expressing newfound confidence in navigating their subsequent educational journey.
