The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has issued a final reminder to all 2025 KCSE candidates to complete their applications before the portal closes at midnight today.
Chief Executive Officer Dr. Agnes Wahome assured students and parents that sufficient space is available for everyone, with over 1.4 million slots across universities and colleges nationwide.
“This year, KUCCPS has opened applications for 508 institutions, comprising both public and private universities and TVET colleges,” stated Dr. Wahome.
“Every student, irrespective of their grade, has an opportunity to pursue higher education.”
The available capacity comprises 322,396 places in universities and more than 1.1 million in TVET institutions.
As of Wednesday morning, 207,308 students representing 77 percent of those eligible for university placement had submitted their applications.
However, the CEO expressed concern about incomplete submissions.
“Many students have selected their courses and placed them in the ‘Course Basket’ but have not clicked the final submission button,” she warned.
“Adding programmes in the basket is not an application. You must complete the process and submit your choices before the midnight deadline.”
Dr. Wahome also encouraged students to consider technical programmes, citing strong performance in subjects such as Drawing and Design, Music, Electricity, and Woodwork, which recorded pass rates above 80 percent in the 2025 KCSE.
“These areas offer extensive opportunities for career development,” she noted.
For those who miss today’s deadline or wish to revise their choices, KUCCPS will open a Second Revision window from May 16 to May 22, 2026.
“After the portal closure tonight, we will process applications and then re-open for those who may need to adjust their choices,” Dr. Wahome said.
She also expressed appreciation to KUCCPS staff for their dedication during the busy application period.
“I want to sincerely thank our technical staff who have been throughout the country supporting Kenyans with their applications, as well as our ICT team for ensuring the system remains robust and available for this massive exercise,” she said.
All eligible students are urged to finalize their applications immediately before the 11.59 p.m. deadline.
