Four individuals have lost their lives in a deadly road collision near the Ololunga–Katakala stretch of the Narok–Bomet highway, involving a commercial lorry carrying market traders and an automobile.

The late-night accident also resulted in multiple severe injuries, with victims receiving medical attention at different healthcare facilities throughout Narok county.

Narok county Police Commander Patrick Lobolia verified the occurrence, characterizing the accident as catastrophic.

According to his account, a Mitsubishi FH lorry heading toward Narok drifted out of its lane and collided head-on with an approaching vehicle.

The lorry was transporting traders from a local market at the moment of impact, he noted.

He mentioned that it remained uncertain whether the fatalities were occupants of the car, as upon the arrival of authorities, the remains had been transported to the mortuary of Narok County Referral Hospital, while the injured were taken to multiple medical centers.

Law enforcement has initiated an inquiry to ascertain the precise circumstances of the accident, which has once again drawn attention to the increasing number of road deaths in Narok County.

Lobolia called upon drivers to maintain heightened vigilance, particularly with the current rainy weather, stressing the necessity of ensuring vehicles are in proper working order to handle wet road conditions safely.

This tragedy follows closely on the heels of another incident at Nairega on the Mai Mahiu–Narok highway that resulted in seven fatalities.

In that earlier crash, a van and a lorry collided directly, causing all seven passengers in the van to lose their lives.

Officials continue to request increased awareness among drivers as worries grow about the escalating frequency of fatal accidents on the principal roadways in the area.
