A Grade Five pupil from Kathungu Primary School became the victim of an attack this evening in Nguni, Mwingi Central, by individuals suspected of being camel herders.
The attack took place as the victim and another individual were tending to cattle; the companion managed to escape without injury.
This latest incident follows a similar attack three days prior when seven people, among them a woman, were fatally shot by suspected bandits in the Kwa Kamari area of Tseikuru, Mwingi North.
The occurrence was confirmed by Bonface Kavoo, the Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) for Mwingi East.
In response to the killing, enraged residents blocked portions of the busy Mwingi-Garissa highway, calling for justice.
