Kenya’s Sports Disputes Tribunal has issued a temporary suspension of significant leadership restructuring at the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).
The move is connected to a continuing power conflict within the nation’s primary football organization.
Based on tribunal directives released in Nairobi on April 27, 2026, the legal action initiated by Ahmed Abdi Mohamed against McDonald Mariga, Robert Kenneth Macharia, and ten additional individuals was recognized as pressing, allowing for immediate temporary measures.
The tribunal approved a temporary injunction prohibiting the defendants from implementing all resolutions passed on April 24, 2026, until further instructions are provided.
The contested resolutions, adopted during a Football Kenya Federation National Executive Committee gathering, aimed to suspend FKF President Hussein Mohammed and appoint Mariga in an interim rolecreating substantial rifts within the federation.
In its rulings, the tribunal instructed the plaintiff to deliver all pertinent documentation, including the claim statement and motion notice, to the defendants and involved parties by noon on April 29.
The defendants must submit and deliver their responses by May 4.
Given the urgency of this case, the tribunal stated that the parties may present oral arguments during the hearing.
The case is set for review on May 5, 2026, at 2:30 p.m.
