Kenya’s athletics authority has made notable adjustments to its competitive schedule, impacting both the Premium Weekend Meet and the selection process for the World Masters Athletics Championships.
The organization confirmed in an announcement that the Premium Weekend Meet, previously set for May 29–30, has been relocated.
This event will now form part of the National Athletics Championships, scheduled to take place from June 18–20 at the Nyayo National Stadium.
“The meet will now be integrated into and jointly hosted during the National Athletics Championships on 18th–20th June 2026 at the Nyayo National Stadium,” stated Athletics Kenya.
This year’s National Championships will also function as the official qualifying event for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, uniting athletes nationwide after various regional competitions.
Athletics Kenya advised competitors and interested parties to acknowledge the modifications and maintain their training routines.
Additionally, the organization affirmed that trials for the World Masters Athletics Championships will proceed as scheduled on May 30, 2026, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi.
“The trial will be used to select a team representing Kenya at the World Masters Athletics Championships scheduled for 26th August to 3rd September 2026 in Daegu, South Korea,” according to the announcement.
Additional specifics regarding event programs, athlete invitations, and selection criteria for both the National Championships and the Masters trials will be shared later.
