Southern Bypass Closed After Traffic Accident

Traffic along Nairobi’s Southern Bypass came to a standstill Friday morning when the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) temporarily shut down the Ole Sereni-bound carriageway due to a road accident.

According to a traffic advisory published on April 24, KeNHA indicated that the problematic stretch between Thogoto and Dagoretti interchanges close to Karinde was closed to facilitate cleanup operations following the morning collision.

The agency cautioned drivers to anticipate significant delays on the busy thoroughfare and recommended that travelers yet to embark on their journeys opt for alternative paths.

The Kenya National Highways Authority informed road users that the Nairobi Southern Bypass (Ole Sereni direction), between Thogoto and Dagoretti interchanges near Karinde, has been temporarily shut due to a road traffic accident that occurred earlier this morning,” the announcement stated.

KeNHA suggested that drivers traveling toward the city utilize the Kikuyu–Mutuini–Dagoretti road (C63) as an alternative route to bypass the congestion.

Extended traffic delays are anticipated along the impacted area, with authorities urging drivers to adjust their travel plans accordingly,” the organization stated.

The organization additionally appealed to drivers to collaborate with traffic marshals and law enforcement officers stationed at the location to help alleviate the situation and expedite the return to normal traffic conditions.

KeNHA stated that the agency was operating continuously to ensure the thoroughfare is cleared and normal traffic flow reinstated as promptly as possible.
