Kisumu County is mourning after two young children lost their lives in a devastating house fire in Kogelo village, Onjiko location, Nyando Sub-County.
The unfortunate event took place at approximately 6pm on Monday, as confirmed by police authorities.
The two young boys, aged seven and three, were present inside the residence when the flames erupted.
Both victims suffered severe burn injuries.
Another child, who was also in the home during the incident, survived after neighbors arrived promptly and rescued them from the burning structure.
The heartbreaking incident has left the Kogelo community in disbelief, with many residents finding it difficult to understand how such a tragedy could occur.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations stationed in Ahero, in collaboration with officers from Boya, have examined the location and initiated inquiries to determine what sparked the fire.
According to police, additional information will be shared once the investigation concludes.
