The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has denounced the savage murder of Mr. Stephen Vundi Musili, an educator at Hulugho Primary School in Garissa County, who was killed on Sunday by presumed Al-Shabaab militants.

Mr. Musili, who began his service with the Commission in January 2025, was characterized as a devoted teacher working diligently in an arduous setting with bravery and determination.

His remains have been transported to Nairobi for preservation at Chiromo Funeral Home as funeral preparations continue.

In an official statement, the Commission mentioned it was collaborating closely with the teacher’s family to ensure a respectful farewell.

“The Commission firmly condemns this detestable and dishonorable act of terrorism, which has not only taken the life of a young educator but also compromises the right to education, peace, and security for both teachers and students,” stated part of the declaration.

The Commission further revealed that representatives, along with other governmental bodies, will visit Hulugho Sub County on January 27 to evaluate the security circumstances and determine the safety of educators in the region.

Acting Commission Secretary Ms. J.E.J. Mitei offered condolences on behalf of the teaching profession, stating: “We offer our deepest sympathies to the family of Mr. Stephen Vundi Musili, his relatives, colleagues, and students during this period of deep sorrow.”
