Kiambu police officers marked the end of the year with a festive gathering, sharing a meal with local residents on Saturday.
The event took place at Kiambu Police Headquarters and was graced by senior officials including County Criminal Investigations Officer Douglas Chikanda as the chief guest. He was accompanied by Kiambu Sub-County Police Commander Francis Njomo and OCS Beatrice Wambugu. Station commanders from Kanunga, Ndumberi, and Kiamumbi also participated.
Addressing attendees, Mr. Chikanda emphasized that public collaboration has facilitated smoother police operations. He acknowledged progress in crime reduction efforts and encouraged continued vigilance among residents.
Sub-County Commander Francis Njomo mentioned his extensive engagement with community groups since arriving in Kiambu, specifically mentioning Boda Boda and Tuk Tuk operators. He stressed the significance of unity in the diverse town. “This allows us to work harmoniously toward our shared objective of delivering quality service to this community,” Njomo stated.
Community policing representatives Josephat Waiti (Ndumberi) and Alloys Kirika (Kanunga) praised the police initiative. While Waiti requested increased focus on combating illegal alcohol, he applauded officers’ prompt responses to crime reports. Kirika reported a significant decline in insecurity in Kanunga attributed to the police’s quick actions.
Public attendees relished the uncommon chance to share a meal with law enforcement, viewing the gathering as positive progress for community-police relations.
