Government Beefs Up Security in Lamu West
The national government has significantly beefed up security in Lamu West Sub-County in response to recent security challenges. The enhanced measures include the deployment of additional Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and National Police Service units to the area, particularly along the porous border and within the Boni Forest enclave. The operation aims to deter and disrupt the activities of Al-Shabaab militants who have staged several attacks in the region.

The security reinforcement also involves the establishment of new patrol bases and the intensification of ground and air surveillance. The County Commissioner assured residents that the government is committed to their safety and is utilizing all available resources to pacify the area. He urged the public to collaborate with security agencies by reporting any suspicious individuals or activities.

Local administrators have been directed to work closely with village elders to enhance community vigilance. The beefed-up security is expected to restore confidence among residents and allow for the resumption of normal socio-economic activities that have been disrupted by the persistent threat of terrorism.
