Leaders Warn Against Illicit Brews and Cattle Theft in Nyandarua
Local leaders in Nyandarua County have issued a stern warning against the twin vices of illicit brews and cattle theft, which they say are threatening the social and economic fabric of the region. The leaders, led by the County Commissioner, stated that these criminal activities are responsible for destroying the youth and impoverishing families. They vowed to lead a sustained crackdown to eradicate the menace.
The County Commissioner directed security agencies to intensify raids on breweries and dens where the illicit alcohol is produced and consumed. He also ordered a heightened patrol regime to combat livestock theft, which has been on the rise in various parts of the county. The leaders emphasized that the community must collaborate with security organs by reporting the criminals in their midst, assuring them of confidentiality and protection.
The warning was issued during a public baraza where residents also voiced their concerns. The leaders urged the youth to shun drugs and alcohol and instead engage in productive activities. They also called on parents to guide their children and help them avoid destructive lifestyles. The joint effort between the leaders and the security team is aimed at restoring order and safeguarding the community’s welfare.
