First Lady Rachel Ruto became emotional at the 2026 National Prayer Breakfast Women Convocation while recounting a remarkable story about a woman who approached her this Easter with her twin daughters, sharing how her prayers from 2012 had resulted in a divine blessing.
At the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, the first lady described being approached by an unfamiliar woman at a shopping center during the Easter holiday with an unexpected story.
According to Rachel, the woman explained, “You have no idea how God worked through you to bless me. Back in 2012, I was devastated, unable to conceive children and being mocked. But when you visited Bungoma for a women’s gathering and invited childless women to come forward, I stepped up and you prayed for me. Now, see how God rewarded me with twins.”
The First Lady noted that the woman stood proudly alongside her twin girls, filled with gratitude.
Rachel admitted that what made this moment particularly significant was her complete lack of memory about the prayer event.
“I honestly couldn’t recall it,” she admitted. “Sometimes you just do things and move on without thinking twice.”
Rachel Ruto employed this compelling narrative to inspire the women at the yearly gathering to maintain their faith, especially addressing those still hoping for children through divine intervention.
“Believers, sisters in faith, let’s trust in God today. We have believed before, but today our faith has been renewed. Whatever you are asking of God, know that He will grant it to you,” she encouraged.
She also urged the attendees to extend their prayers beyond the hotel walls, asking them to pray for village mothers, discouraged young people, and the broader needs of Kenya, East Africa, and the world.
“Let’s intercede for our mothers in rural areas. Let’s pray for our youth, our children, those who have lost hope. Let’s pray for those still awaiting the gift of children,” she finished.
