Former President and Jubilee Party Leader Uhuru Kenyatta has called upon Kiambu delegates to rally behind the party, emphasizing the need for transparent and fair internal elections to strengthen Jubilee’s influence in the politically significant county.
Addressing a gathering of more than 5,000 representatives from all 12 sub-counties of Kiambu at the Kiambu Golf Club, Uhuru highlighted that the party’s deep historical roots in the region present an opportunity to transform the entire area into a stronghold for Jubileeprovided adherents embrace the organization’s principles and programs.
The ex-President indicated his commitment to supporting the party and relinquishing his leadership position once it achieves stability. He also responded to critics from opposing parties who have challenged his ongoing political presence despite his retirement status.
“People from Kenya Kwanza frequently question why I haven’t handed over the party to focus on retirement. However, they are the ones who disrupted Jubilee and attempted to undermine it from within, something I could not permit,” Uhuru declared to an enthusiastic audience, noting his current assurance that the party is now under reliable management.
Uhuru publicly endorsed his choice of successor, former Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i, committing to back his campaign for Kenya’s sixth presidency. He expressed unwavering confidence that the leadership groupconsisting of himself, Dr. Matiang’i, and Secretary-General Moitalele Ole Kentarepresents the optimal formation to secure triumph for Jubilee in Kiambu and nationally.
A confident Uhuru stressed his intention to exclusively support candidates chosen through democratic processes, vowing to work alongside them to ensure comprehensive victory across all electoral positions in the area.
Local figures at the event staunchly defended the former President against detractors who contend he should disengage from national political affairs. They argued that his experience as a two-term Head of State uniquely positions him to tackle challenges facing Kenyan citizens.
Guided by the party’s Director of Elections and former Murang’a Senator, Kembi Gitura, the officials maintained that Uhuru possesses the fundamental right to offer guidance to the nation without limitations.
“Let them understand this: Uhuru will remain active and traverse the country freely without requiring anyone’s consent. He serves as our party chief and will persist in providing us with guidance for the future,” Gitura affirmed
