Ruto Grants Ksh5 Million Scholarship to 250 Kwale TVC Students

William Ruto has announced Ksh5 million in scholarships for 250 Technical and Vocational College students in Lunga Lunga, Kwale County.

During his Coastal tour on May 23, President Ruto awarded the Ksh5m scholarship, which, according to calculations, implies that each student will receive slightly over Ksh20,000.

“I want to sponsor the young people here. Those students of the six-month courses,” stated President Ruto.

He added, “More than 250 students will come to study here, and I am the one who will pay for them.”

President Ruto also instructed the LungaLunga Member of Parliament, Mangale Chiforomodo Munga, to add additional funds to the Ksh5 million from the Constituency Development Funds (CDF) to sponsor more students.

“I am also instructing your MP, Honourable Chiforomodo (Mangale Munga), to add some money to the scholarship money from the CDF, so that more students can come and study here in Kwale County,” ordered President Ruto.

While speaking in Kwale County, President Ruto stated that he is planning to initiate an affordable housing project and that he wants the youth from Kwale to participate in the menial jobs instead

Moreover, to promote education in the county, President Ruto also inaugurated Matuga Technical and Vocational College and launched the “Jitume” Digital Hub at Kinango TVC to strengthen digital efficiency, innovation, and technology opportunities for youth across Kwale County.

Other projects launched by President Ruto during the coastal development tour include with a target of issuance of over 200,000 more in the next six months.

He also launched affordable housing projects in Diani and Matuga to expand home ownership access in the region, a project that he believes will define his presidency.

Additionally, the tour featured infrastructure and utility expansion projects, including last-mile electricity connectivity in the Kinango and Lunga Lunga areas.

On Thursday, Ruto promised the people of Mombasa a new Ksh3 billion ferry to support the Likoni Ferry Crossing, which has been overwhelmed by demand.
