Ruto Concludes Kisii, Nyamira Visit, Champions Development Plans

President William Ruto wrapped up a four-day development visit to Kisii and Nyamira counties, restating his government’s dedication to fulfilling pledges while dismissing criticism from opposition figures.
The President stated his administration remains committed to its development agenda and will not be sidetracked by what he described as divisive and confrontational political tactics.
He urged opposition leaders to showcase their policy proposals and accomplishments to the public rather than resorting to personal attacks.
Ruto also highlighted the ongoing collaboration between the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) within the Broad-Based Government framework, noting that this partnership is essential for promoting national unity and eliminating tribal politics.
Throughout the tour, the President initiated and examined numerous significant projects across both counties.
In Suneka, he revealed plans to convert the local airstrip into a fully functional airport to enhance regional connectivity.
He also inaugurated infrastructure initiatives such as the Sameta–Egetuki–Ikoba road, the Etago–Ekona–Geteri–Nyamaiya road, and various other road systems designed to stimulate commerce and facilitate transportation.
Additionally, he examined the development of contemporary marketplaces and inaugurated the Magara Bridge.
In the health sector, Ruto officially opened the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Gucha Campus and initiated construction of another KMTC in Nyangweta to enhance healthcare education and service provision.
The President also underscored substantial investments in the region, encompassing road construction, affordable housing, electrical connectivity, and market development.
Within Kisii County, he pointed out current and future road projects spanning hundreds of kilometers, along with considerable financial support for housing and industrial endeavors like the County Aggregation and Industrial Park.
In Nyamira County, he announced investments in housing, markets, and healthcare facilities, including the enhancement of Nyamira County Referral Hospital and proposals for a new stadium.
Water initiatives also received significant attention, with the President initiating the restoration and expansion of Kisii water distribution systems and officially launching the Nyamira Water Supply Project, expected to provide clean water to thousands of households.
Kisii Governor Simba Arati welcomed the cooperation between national and county authorities, emphasizing that such collaborations are vital for accelerating development in the area.
