Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has revealed a comprehensive reshuffle involving Regional and County Commissioners intended to optimize operations and improve public services nationwide.
According to a statement released on Friday, May 15, these personnel adjustments seek to bolster coordination of governmental duties and tackle developing security and administrative challenges in various areas.
Significant modifications at the Regional Commissioner position include Rhoda Nyaboke Onyancha relocating from the Coast region to Nairobi, and Paul Rotich transferring from Eastern to the Coast region.
Samson Macharia Irungu has been reassigned from the Western region to the Office of the President headquarters, while Flora Nkatha Mworoah has been moved from the Nyanza region to the Office of the President headquarters.
“The Ministry has implemented these adjustments in the Regional Commissioner and County Commissioner ranks to improve service provision and guarantee effective coordination of National Government functions throughout the nation,” the statement from Murkomen indicated.
“These relocations have considered the capabilities and professional backgrounds of the officers as we confront diverse security and service delivery issues.”
The ministry also disclosed fresh appointments with promotional responsibilities, with Jacob O. Muganda, Onesmus Musyoki Kyatha, and Allan Machari advanced to Regional Commissioner roles following their prior service as County Commissioners.
Consequently, Muganda has been designated Eastern Regional Commissioner, Musyoki will lead the Nyanza region, while Allan Machari has been reassigned from the Office of the President headquarters to assume duties as Western Regional Commissioner.
In these adjustments occurring 14 months before the 2027 General Elections, multiple Regional Commissioners will remain in their current posts, including Joshua Muriungi Nkanatha in the Central region, John Odhiambo Otieno in North Eastern, and Dr. Abdi Mohammed Hassan in the Rift Valley region.
Regarding County Commissioner changes, Joseph Kibet Boen has been shifted from Kiambu to Kilifi, and Stephen Kutwa Sangolo has been relocated from Baringo to Lamu County.
Jeremiah Mwai Gicheru has been transferred from Kericho to Tana River, while John Kiprotich Cheruiyot has moved from Samburu to Meru County in this recent reorganization.
Additional significant reassignments encompass Shufaa Omar Mwijuma transferring from Nyamira to Tana River, Benson David Leparmorijo being relocated from Kisumu to Nyamira, and Josephine Auma Ouko being moved from Machakos and recalled to headquarters.
