Gachagua Challenges DCI: “Come and Arrest Me”

by KenyaPolls

DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua challenged the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to apprehend him shortly after the DCI rejected his claims regarding a missing KSh500 million exhibit in a current fuel procurement investigation.

Addressing the media on Sunday April 5, 2026, Gachagua stated he would not be pressured, maintaining his position and willing to accept any outcomes.

“I addressed the gathering at Gakoe and detailed the circumstances of the dispute and the disappearance of a KSh500 million exhibit,” he explained.

“Now I observe the DCI issuing statements to frighten me. Allow me to inform you, if you intend to arrest me, proceed and witness the consequences.”

Gachagua asserted that the DCI was targeting him rather than investigating individuals he accused of assaulting him and his followers at multiple public gatherings.

“Before you attempt to threaten me with arrest, I demand that those who assaulted us in Limuru during a funeral be apprehended and prosecuted,” he stated.

He additionally claimed his supporters had been attacked in Mwiki, Kariobangi, and Witima, and called for measures against those accountable.

“Do not attempt to intimidate us. We possess the right to express ourselves to protect Kenyan interests,” Gachagua emphasized.

In an official statement, the DCI characterized Gachagua’s claims about recoveries and exhibits in the current investigation into suspected irregular fuel procurement by the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum as baseless, unsubstantiated, and malicious.

“The accusations directed at the DCI have no factual or evidentiary support and appear aimed at diminishing public trust in a crucial national law enforcement agency,” the DCI reported.

According to the government body, all evidence and items connected to the case are being managed professionally and in compliance with legal requirements.

It also disclosed that it is reviewing Gachagua’s complete statements, especially those made in Gikuyu, to ascertain if they might constitute offenses under the National Cohesion and Integration Act, such as hate speech.

“The DCI will not delay in taking appropriate measures when legal violations occur, regardless of the standing or position of any individual,” stated the report.

Nevertheless, the DCP party leader affirmed that he would persist in speaking his mind, implying he possesses additional information intended for sharing with the Kenyan public.
