Nairobi Estates to Experience Over 24-Hour Water Disruption
NAIROBI, Kenya – October 2, 2025 – Residents in at least 14 Nairobi estates will face a water supply disruption lasting more than 24 hours as the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (Nairobi Water) undertakes scheduled maintenance and system upgrades.
According to the utility firm, the interruption will begin at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, October 3, and is expected to end at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 4. The works are part of ongoing efforts to enhance water distribution and improve supply efficiency across the city.
The maintenance involves interconnecting the Kigoro-Gigiri-Kabete water pipeline at the Gigiri Pumping Station and Reservoirs, in collaboration with the Athi Water Works Development Agency (AWWDA).
Affected areas include Lavington, Kileleshwa, Mamlaka & Valley Road, Kilimani, Kawangware & Dagoretti, Uthiru & Muthua, Ngong Road & Upper Hill, Kibera & Highrise, Kinoo & Kang’ethe, Lang’ata, Karen, Nairobi CBD & Mombasa Road corridor, Ngara & Gigiri, Industrial Area, Eastleigh & surrounding areas, and Mathare & environs.
Nairobi Water has advised residents and institutions in the affected estates to store sufficient water in advance and to use it sparingly during the disruption.
