Migori September ASK Show Set to Attract 20,000 Visitors
Migori County is preparing to host the regional Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) show from September 25th to 27th, 2025, at the Migori Showground in Lichota, with organizers targeting 20,000 visitors.
George Ongono, Chairperson of the South West Kenya Branch of the Migori Agricultural Show, stated that this year’s event will run under the theme Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth.
Over 60 exhibitors from sectors including agriculture, manufacturing, banking, education, hospitality, and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are expected to participate. Schools, institutions, and farmers will also showcase innovations and best practices that promote climate-smart farming.
Ongono highlighted that the event will feature more than just exhibitions, with side events such as field days, football matches, and interactive forums aimed at encouraging youth participation in agriculture. Water catchment projects will also be showcased to promote sustainable farming practices among Migori farmers.
County Secretary Oscar Olima expressed confidence that the show will attract a significant crowd, noting that attendance has grown steadily over the years. The Migori show, which began as a Harambee show in the 1980s, has evolved into a key platform for promoting agriculture and trade in South Western Kenya.
Organizers are working closely with the National Government and the National Show Committee to ensure that lessons learned at the exhibition are applied beyond the three-day event. We want people to leave with knowledge they can put into practice, not just memories of what they saw, said Ongono.
