Starehe Boys’ Centre claimed victory in the 2026 Vivo Energy Kenya Sustainability Community Football Tournament by defeating Kamkunji High School 1-0 in a closely contested final held at Starehe Boys’ Centre.
In the girls’ division, Kariobangi North Girls High School demonstrated outstanding performance, overpowering Starlight Senior Academy with a 15-1 score to secure the championship.
The seven-day tournament, organized under the theme “Kicking Off for Sustainability,” formed part of Vivo Energy Kenya’s Sustainability Week festivities. It featured seven teams from five schools – Starehe Boys’ Centre, Kariobangi High School, Kamkunji High School, Starlight Secondary School, and Mogra Star Academy – displaying remarkable talent, cooperation, and perseverance from both male and female participants.
During the awards ceremony, Vivo Energy Kenya Managing Director Peter Murungi reiterated the company’s dedication to fostering young athletes and advancing sustainable development via community collaborations.
“We are deeply honored to support and offer equal opportunities for boys and girls to explore and enhance their abilities. Through programs like this football tournament, we are investing in emerging talent, promoting inclusivity, and contributing to a more promising future for the upcoming generation,” he stated.
Murungi additionally emphasized the significance of teamwork, noting, “Our collaboration with Alive and Kicking exemplifies our commitment to empowering youth by providing access to superior sports equipment and opportunities.”
In line with this initiative, each participating team was provided with 10 footballs to aid continuous training and skill advancement beyond the tournament.
The Sustainability Week 2026 Community Football Tournament represents another achievement in Vivo Energy Kenya’s endeavors to inspire positive transformation via initiatives that encourage wellness, learning, and young talent development, while supporting sustainable community advancement throughout Kenya.
